About Us

BagWorks Fitness was developed by the Kodenkan of Tucson Martial Arts and Fitness Center.  This program's 30-Minute Circuit Training and CardioKarate Kickboxing workouts  include basic techniques from the martial arts that allow members to learn basic kick and punch combinations to create a challenging and fun workout for all experience levels.

Kodenkan of Tucson has been a Tucson tradition since 1961.  Most of the styles that are taught originated in Japan but came to the U.S. by way of Hawaii, through the teachings of Professor Henry S. Okazaki.  Professor Okazaki was the first Japanese martial artist to teach the martial arts to non-Japanese students, regardless of race or gender.  The Holck family, led by Shihan Roy Holck, and followed 2 years later by Dai-Shihan Joseph Holck, brought Professor Okazaki's teachings to Tucson in 1961.  For over 45 years the Holck Family has trained generations of Southern Arizonans in Jujitsu, Judo and Kajukenbo Karate.

Dai-Shihan's legacy is continued today at the Kodenkan of Tucson by son, Shihan Vinson K. Holck, who developed the BagWorks program utilizing his many years of experience instructing local school students, members of the military and his martial arts students.  The Kodenkan of Tucson is a  family-oriented school that offers classes for ages 4-adult.  With over 20 Kodenkan Yudanshakai certified black belt instructors, we are able to offer a wide variety of classes Monday-Saturday which include: Jujitsu, Karate, Kung Fu, Judo, Lil' Dragons, Batto-do (samurai sword) and Hiraido (mixed martial arts).

With the Grand Opening of our 5,000+ square foot facility at Braodway & Pantano,  we are able to provide our students with Tucson's newest and best training facility, but also more than 250 years of combined instructors experience.

NO CONTRACTS
Our school has not found it necessary to require contracts as the vast majority of our students remain with the school to continue their training.  In addition, a uniform is always included for Jujitsu, Karate, Kung Fu and Judo students.
